Mortimer Dormer Leggett Papers 1887

Mortimer Dormer Leggett (1821-1896) was a colonel of the 75th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, during the American Civil War. He participated in the Battle of Shiloh and the Siege of Vicksburg and was promoted to Brigadier General. The collection consists of correspondence with Captain W.R. Hodges and General George McGinnis concerning events at Vicksburg and Shiloh (1887), and three typed articles: "General Lewis Wallace's Division at Shiloh," "Lessons of the War," and "The Siege of Vicksburg."
